I had a contractor install this outdoor camera about two years ago. Recently my WIFI network changed and I had to reset all wireless devices to the new network. This meant I had to reinstall the Eve outdoor camera. The original packaging was long gone. Eve told me the QR code would be on the mounting plate. So I took the device apart to find it. It was not there, or anywhere else. Eve told me, and I quote, “you need to replace the device.” I am flabbergasted. Eve neglects to put the QR code on the secondary location, makes it therefore impossible for me to reinstall the device, and expects me to buy another one. I’m am done with this company. I just wish the camera were heavier so I could at least use it as a boat anchor. (I really wanted to like these guys. I even previously overlooked the fact that neither of the 2 motion detectors I bought from them worked reliably either.

great video.. any way to control the old traditional fans that come with a separate regulator? i'm from India, so not sure if the wiring is gonna be the same and would work for any smart fan switches that could control fan speed

Quality review! This is number 1 on my list for a robot vacuum for pet hair and mopping.

Luckily I haven't had to rebuild our smart home completely, but you could say that I almost completely had to do so at one point. Back in December, homebridge took a shit, I use homebridge for like 90% of our smart home accessories because almost none of them are directly compatible with Apple home. There is a lot of accessories. Well, back in December, I literally changed one word in the JSON file, and all of my Homebridge accessories went no response. I couldn't figure out what the problem was and couldn't fix it by cycling through various different JSON file backups, so I nuked homebridge and started again. Without a backup. I actually reset my Mac that I was running homebridge on because for some reason I couldn't install any plug-ins. That was an NPM error, and almost certainly did not require a reset of my Mac, but doing so was great because there was a lot of leftover files and clutter from applications I installed previously. I had to rebuild all of the automations from those devices, and that was extremely annoying!

Is this a feature that used to be available but no longer available on Apple Home? We tried following your instructions to add the scenes on Apple Home, but we are unable to add our Light Strip. On the Nanoleaf app, it says that Group Scenes are not available for Matter devices.

This video was really helpful. I’m in the US and my daughter is 9. Like you I don’t think that she’s ready for a phone but wanted some way for her to stay in touch when she’s away. I also wish that there was an app on the iPad for her to do certain things with her watch. Thanks for sharing

Great video Brad. I'm so sorry you spent hundreds of hours on this - hopefully Apple now realises it needs to invest more into HomeKiit. Do you think it's best to connect all hubs & bridges on the 2.4Ghz frequency? And can you access these if your phone is on the 5Ghz frequency?

I’m having almost the same exact issue currently. Only difference is I can add matter devices but the all it says is “No Response” did all the same steps and test as you and on a test home it works. Now i’m just procrastinating, deleting my primary home and creating a new one. It’s sad and sucks to have to do it. Done it 3 times throughout the lifespan of Apple HomeKit. It’s just been awhile and I have double the amount of accessories that I did the last time I did it. Wish me luck! Haha

Can aqara hub connect to cctv xiaomi?

No problems with Matter since iOS17.2, before it was flaky. Using EVE, Aqara and Nuki Matter/Thread devices.

I just can’t justify the price point on any of the brands shown in the video. Especially since I would only use during holidays and your thinking about gift giving to a large family,holiday food expenses and such. I like the lights and hopefully they become more affordable so everyone can enjoy.

PS you stated it has no addaptive lighting, but you could program it if you want. Make setup for evert 2-3 hours and adjust power

which one is the quietest ? is the TVOC measure of the non lite really important for home air monitoring?

Glad to find your channel cause I just started a Caseta Lutron smart system and used to have a smart thing z-wave system before at an old house. I used SmartThings has worked great for me but would like to use HomeKit and would like to get items that use those but still like to use Alexa to control with voice cause I already have at the house

've purchased 3 Aquas (3rd gen) and have many other Eve devices throughout my home, so I'm quite familiar with the Eve ecosystem. Out of the box the Aquas are fantastic. After one year... not so much. I have regular connection problems, and once those are fixed, the on/off function is unreliable. There are times that the unit will not turn on, and other times it will not turn off. Not sure which fail mode is worse. I'm looking for alternatives that are more reliable.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention anything about the Lutron Fan Control having LEDs that you can’t turn off. Super annoying at night to see the green LEDs.

Great review, Brad. I thought the review was well rounded. It is disappointing that the rubber strip was coming off already. It is exciting that we’re on the precipice of getting these smart vacs into Matter and thus Apple Home. Two asides: your transition to asking for likes was awesome and having your dog in the videos will absolutely get more likes!

Are there any hardwire dimming switches that is comparable with hue bridge.

IP20 does not have a damp rating so it would be great to see a followup video in a year or so.

I use an eve motion detect to turn on a hue strip light and turn it off after 1 min via HomeKit. It always turns on, but 50% of the time it does not turn it off. It seems HomeKit is not a serious piece of software, more of a toy.

I do not like to connect to wifi directly. Are there any HUB or bridge that support these switches?

Great video. Question on the bulb vs switch. Looking to add bulbs to my three kitchen pendants with Phillips Hue Bulbs. Is a smart switch for those also necessary?

I use IFTTT to use the fp2 with phillips hue and it takes 2 seconds to turn on the lights and instantly turns off when absence is detected, i will get a homey pro soon
